Governor Zulum gives 2,000 displaced farmers, orders the drilling of 500 boreholes

Governor Zulum has been working to improve the quality of agricultural land in the state, despite the challenges faced by farmers, today, Friday, at Damasak, the headquarters of Mobbar Local Government Area of ​​North Borno. The governor distributed a package containing various agricultural inputs with implementation to more than 2,000 farmers for summer farming activities.

Each pack contains a water pump with accessories, NPK fertilizer, non-abrasive herbicide, 50,000 liters of fuel, 2,000 liters of engine oil, and a variety of rice.

The governor, accompanied by North Borno State Senator Abubakar Kyari and Borno State House of Assembly Speaker Abdul Karim Lawan, said the move was part of efforts to create jobs and increase food security in the state.

Furthermore, Governor Zulum has ordered the release of funds for the construction of 500 boreholes to increase irrigation capacity.

Before leaving Damasak, Zulum inspected a large-scale water supply project being built by Senator Abubakar Kyari as part of his constituency’s projects in Damasak. The N450m water project can produce 950,000 liters of water for three deep wells.

Governor Zulum commended Senator Kyari for his tremendous work which will have a direct impact on the lives of the people.

Zulum’s delegation to Damasak includes not only Senator Kyari, but also Lawan Speaker Abubakar Tijjani, Borno state legislators representing Mobbar and Abadam, and the state commissioner of local government and emirates.
