Earlier today, President of the Senate, His Excellency, Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan was in Abia State at the instance of the Chief Whip of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Orji Uzor Kalu who is representing Abia North Senatorial District.
Accompanied by Distinguished Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele and Distinguished Senator Frank Ibezim, the Senate President arrived at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport where he was received by the governor of the State, His Excellency, Ifeanyi Ugwanyi.
The Senate President thereafter proceeded to the Senatorial District of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu to commission some of the many projects, particularly the road projects the Senator facilitated for his Senatorial District.
Among the road projects commissioned by the Senate President are the Nvurunvu/Umumara Road, Aturu, Isuikwuato Local Government Area; Amaibo Road; Agbo, Amoji Lodu Ring Road in Bende Local Government Area; 4km Rubber Road at Amaokwe Item.
Time did not permit the Senate President to commission other road projects in the Senatorial District, which he described as rural road projects which the APC administration considers very relevant to boost the development of the Agricultural sector.
During the visit, the Senate President was honored with the Chieftaincy titles of Ezi-enyi 1 of Amaibo, Enyi Bende 1, Ezi-enyi 1 of Alayi, and Nwanne Di Na MBA Item Okpi, all from four communities in Abia North. This is even as the Senate President is already a titleholder of the Igbere community in Abia North.
The Senate President and his entourage have since returned to Abuja.
